Meet Sophie!

Sophie is a sweet affectionate girl who is looking for a soft place to land. This girl is happiest being a part of the action, and would make a lovely companion for a family looking for a furry friend.

Sophie walks well on leash but has a history of being dog reactive. She’ll need someone who is comfortable giving her space and understands that she is going to take time to socialize with dogs. Off-leash dog parks will not be a good option for her. Walks with her people and playtime in a fenced space are more her style. In fact – she LOVES to play fetch.

Spending time alone is still a work in progress. Sophie can be quite vocal about missing her people, and she’ll need a family willing to patiently help her become more comfortable on her own and develop a routine. A home with varied schedules, or someone who works from home would be a good option for her.

Sophie came into our care after being abandoned at our centre with a number of medical challenges. We’re looking forward to seeing her begin a new chapter with a family who will give her the care and love she deserves. Sophie has a large mass on her abdomen that has been diagnosed as cancerous. The good news is that it has not spread, and once the mass is removed she will just need regular monitoring to ensure she remains a happy, healthy gal.

At this time, we are seeking a foster-to-adopt home while we navigate her medical care. She has a spay, mass removal and dental surgery booked at our partner veterinary clinic in Surrey on November 12th. Her adopters will need to be able to take her to and from this appointment. It is possible that she will need a few follow up appointments at the same clinic before we can finalize her adoption. These costs will be covered by the BCSPCA.

Come and meet Sophie in person and let her show you her favorite stuffy! Visiting hours are 12-4pm, Tuesday-Friday (closed Mondays and holidays). While we welcome online applications, in person meets will be prioritized.
