Meet Pawela

Meet Pawela! Pawela means “float” in Kwakwala, and this beautiful turtle is ready to float her way into your heart! Pawela is a Mississippi map turtle, which is a river species who thrives in a large, well-filtered environment. She came to us with an overgrown beak, as well as quite a buildup of algae and stuck scutes on her shell, but with some TLC she is on her way to looking and feeling much better. Pawela is a good eater, and gets quite excited for meal time, so getting her onto a well balanced diet is going well.

Pawela is looking for a home with a guardian who is experienced with turtle care, who can provide her with an appropriate enclosure and continue to help her feel her best.
