Meet Tuna!
Tune is a very shy, gentle soul who came into the BC SPCA as a stray and was never claimed. He was very overwhelmed by the shelter environment so went into foster care where he has been settling in and learning that he can feel safe. Though still very cautious, he lights up when offered affection – purring loudly and kneading with his paws the moment he feels safe enough to enjoy pets. He may choose a high perch as his safe spot when people are around and need coaxing to come down, but once he does he becomes a total love bug, soaking up the attention before retreating to process it all. With a healthy appetite, perfect litter box habits, and a slowly growing trust, Tuna is showing every day that this sweet boy has a big heart just waiting for the right person to help him bloom.

Tuna is looking for a calm, quiet home with an experienced cat guardian(s) who has the love and patience to draw him out of his shell. A home without children would be best. We’re not sure if Tuna has been around other animals but may do well with other another cat with proper, slow introductions. He can be quite anxious and likes to have a safe place to hide and observe things from while he adjusts and becomes comfortable. He should be INDOOR ONLY due to his easily startled nature. He’s looking for a loving guardian who will take the time to show him that people and things aren’t as scary as they seem. With a gentle hand, patience, and lots of love from his new guardian(s) he will certainly come out of his shell and his young, playful and curious side will hopefully win out over his caution. In the right environment he’ll start to blossom into the loving, sweet companion he is destined to be but it will take work by his adopter. Tuna has already has come such a far way. Could you be the one to show Tuna the kindness and love of a fur-ever home?

Do you think you could be Tuna’s special someone? Here is how to find out:
Submit an online application at https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/cat-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit with Tuna!
