Meet Bo!

Bo is a handsome 1.5-year-old Pit Bull/Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his smile! This sweet and affectionate boy’s journey to the shelter began with a rather prickly adventure when he arrived covered in porcupine quills. Thankfully, those days are behind him, and now he’s ready to find the loving forever home he deserves.

Bo loves being around his people and prefers companionship over spending time alone. He’s house-trained, knows how to sit, and enjoys earning tasty treats, making him a great candidate for learning new skills and commands. While he can have a stubborn streak from time to time, he’s also a charming goof who will happily put on the brakes during a walk if it means he can soak up some extra belly rubs and attention.

This active young dog enjoys outdoor adventures and would make an excellent companion for hiking trails, lake days, and road trip adventures with his favorite humans.

Bo is currently working on becoming more comfortable with his crate, and his future family should be prepared to continue his gradual, positive crate-training journey. He can also be wary of veterinary visits and may benefit from continued confidence-building, positive reinforcement, and a Fear Free approach to veterinary care to help him feel more comfortable.

While in our care, Bo has shown that he can calmly observe larger dogs from a distance. He has also displayed negative reactivity towards small dogs, and his future family should be prepared to continue managing and working through these behaviors using positive reinforcement and gradual deconditioning. We are still learning more about Bo’s compatibility with other animals, so any introductions to other animals should be done with experience in a slow and thoughtful capacity. For this reason, we do not feel he would be suited for a home with small animals.

Bo is a loving, loyal companion who is looking for a family that will appreciate his sweet nature, support him through his continued training, and include him in all of life’s adventures. In return, he’ll provide plenty of affection, laughs, and companionship.
