Meet Mandarin Aka Mandy
Meet Mandarin (“Mandy”) – A Survivor Ready for Her Forever 💛
Mandy’s story is one of resilience, hope, and an unbreakable spirit. Found alone in Manning Park after weeks of sightings spanning kilometers along the highway, it was clear this brave girl had been surviving on her own for quite some time. Thin, matted, and exhausted, Mandy endured more than we’ll ever know – yet she never lost her gentle, loving nature.
After she was finally brought to safety in Chilliwack, we waited, hoping someone might come forward for her. Sadly, no one did. But while that part of her life has closed, Mandy is ready for a new beginning – one filled with love, stability, and the safety she’s been missing.
Mandy is incredibly people-focused – she loves her humans and wants nothing more than to be close to them. In fact, she’ll go to remarkable lengths to stay near her people, easily clearing 4-foot fences from a standstill and climbing over 6-foot ones. This isn’t a dog trying to run away – it’s a dog who is afraid of being left behind again, seeking connection and reassurance wherever she can find it.
Because of this strong attachment, Mandy will do best as the only dog in the home. While she has been around other dogs and can coexist, she truly prefers soaking up all the love and attention from her people. She has shown that she may be okay with cats, though proper introductions will always be important.
As Mandy settled into foster care and continues to heal, she has shown some intense separation anxiety at times – a possible reflection of the abandonment and loneliness she experienced. She will need a patient, understanding home with guardians who have experience (or are willing to learn) how to support a dog working through these feelings. With time, consistency, and compassion, Mandy will continue to build confidence and learn that she is safe and won’t be left again.
Mandy is looking for a home that can offer:
Breed experience
A structured, secure environment
The chance to be the only dog and center of attention
Patience and experience in managing separation anxiety
Lots of love, presence, and reassurance as she continues her journey
What she’ll give in return is immeasurable – unwavering loyalty, affection, and a bond as strong as her survival story.
Mandy has come so far. Now she just needs someone to believe in her and give her the forever she deserves.
Do you have a place in your home – and your heart – for this beautiful, resilient girl? 💕
