Meet Gracie
We first met Gracie in 2018, when she desperately needed help. As a stray cat, she had been dragging around a severely broken leg for far too long, and sadly, the injury was so severe that her leg had to be amputated to save her life.
Despite everything she had been through, Gracie’s future quickly began to brighten. She was adopted into a loving home, where she spent six happy years alongside her best friend, a black Labrador. Unfortunately, when toddlers entered the household, Gracie was no longer comfortable or welcome there.
She was then rehomed again, but heartbreak struck once more when her new owner passed away within the year, leaving Gracie with nowhere to go. She returned to us so we could help her find another wonderful home. We truly thought we had found the right match, but sadly, she was returned because she wasn’t fitting in.
Gracie deserves for her next home, her fifth home, to finally be her forever home. She needs a loving person who understands her disability and appreciates that she has endured more than any cat should ever have to.
She is a warrior. Gracie is affectionate, loyal, and wants nothing more than to be your best friend. But she also has boundaries. She can be sensitive about her missing leg and doesn’t enjoy being touched there. Understandably, she is frightened of veterinary visits and requires a sedative before appointments. She also takes pain medication every couple of days to help manage any phantom pain from her amputation.
This incredible girl has overcome so much, and she wouldn’t have survived it all without her strong spirit. That same spirit may occasionally earn you a swat or a gentle nip if you touch a sore spot or try to end cuddle time before she’s ready, especially when she’s happily snuggled on your chest. But if you respect and understand her, Gracie will reward you with endless love, companionship, and plenty of personality. She’ll happily become your loyal little sidekick and may even karate chop any unwanted guests for you.
