Meet Gary De’Snake

Add to favourites

Although the BC SPCA opposes the keeping of exotic animals as pets because it is challenging, if not impossible, to provide them with everything they need to thrive, Gary De’Snake found his way into the care of the BC SPCA and is now looking for an experienced home that can commit to supporting his special needs.

Gary is a 3 year old yellow belly ball python with the potential to live another 30 years, making him a wonderful long term companion for the right person. He requires a large, secure enclosure (minimum 55 gallons) equipped with hides and sturdy branches that allow him to climb and stretch comfortably.

We are still getting to know Gary’s feeding habits, so his adopter should be patient and willing to support him as he settles into a routine. He is well handled, calm, and curious during supervised exploration outside his enclosure. Though naturally a bit timid, Gary thrives with gentle, consistent interaction and will continue to gain confidence in a calm environment.

Gary is best suited to a home with an experienced reptile guardian who understands proper heating, humidity, and enclosure upkeep, and who is ready for the long term commitment of caring for a snake. If Gary sounds like the companion for you, please apply online or stop by the West Vancouver branch between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.

Please note: A photo of your enclosure, or the enclosure you intend to purchase, is required as part of the application.
