Meet Draco
Introducing our Bearded Dragon, Draco. Draco is a middle-aged guy looking for a cozy, warm, beardie-loving family to call his own.
Bearded dragons like Draco are hardy reptiles, but they rely heavily on correct husbandry to stay healthy. Draco will need a spacious enclosure-ideally at least 40 gallons, though larger is always better-to give him room to move, climb, and thermoregulate.
Draco’s diet should include a daily offering of fresh greens and vegetables-such as collard greens, mustard greens, squash, and bell peppers-along with insects like crickets, and feeder roaches several times a week. Calcium and vitamin supplements are also important to keep his bones strong and his overall health balanced. Fresh water should always be available, and occasional baths or gentle misting can help him stay hydrated and shed comfortably.
To keep Draco mentally stimulated and comfortable, his enclosure should contain branches, hides, basking spots, and other safe décor that encourages natural behaviors. He also benefits from regular interaction outside his enclosure, which helps him stay social and engaged.
If you are interested in adoption please send us an email at Nanaimo@spca.bc.ca with your experience owning reptiles, such as bearded dragons and a picture of the planned enclosure, including the lighting, you’d house him in!
