Introducing Harley!

Harley is a stunning Great Pyrenees who came to us as a stray. While her past is a mystery, it’s clear that she has a big heart and carries the calm, steady presence this majestic breed is known for.

True to her Pyrenees roots, Harley is independent, observant, and has a natural guardian instinct. She may be cautious around new people, but with patience and a gentle approach, her loyal, affectionate nature shines through. Once she trusts you, you’ll have a devoted companion for life.

Harley also enjoys her outdoor time and would thrive in a secure, fenced yard or rural setting where she can explore and relax. Be prepared for some occasional howling-a classic Pyrenees trait!

Behavioral Notes:

Harley is currently working with our behavioral team to address resource guarding, particularly around her bed and food. These are high-value items for her, and she may react if she feels they’re being approached or threatened. She will need an adopter who is understanding of this behavior, willing to manage her environment, and committed to positive reinforcement methods to help her feel safe and secure.

What Harley Needs:

A calm, structured home with minimal foot traffic

No other animals or children in the household

A secure, fenced yard or rural property

An experienced guardian breed adopter who understands Pyrenees traits

Someone who will not use aversive or punishment-based training

A commitment to working with an AnimalKind trainer or continuing her behavioral plan

Willingness to set up the home in a way that prevents conflict, such as respecting her space around her bed and food

Understanding that she may need sedated vet exams for her comfort and safety

Ideal Home:

Harley will do best in a quiet, low-stress environment with someone who:

Has experience with livestock guardian breeds or dogs with complex behavior needs

Is confident reading dog body language

Can provide clear structure, predictable routines, and respectful boundaries

With the right environment and a compassionate, patient adopter, Harley has the potential to grow into a deeply bonded, loving companion.

🕐 Come meet Harley in person during our adoption hours: 1-4 PM daily, or apply online to start your journey together.
