Meet Taz
Taz was recently surrendered to the BC SPCA as a result of an Animal Protection Investigation, along with her buddies Starfire and Billy (Billy is awaiting eye surgery, but will be available for adoption soon). They have all undergone veterinary assessments, deworming, vaccinations, hoof care, and dental work to help set them up for success in their new homes.
Taz is friendly, halter broke and easy to handle. She arrived with significant overgrowth and deformity in her hind hooves and pasterns. Radiographs confirmed chronic changes that may lead to progressive osteoarthritis over time. She is currently pasture sound and responding well to corrective trimming. Her condition will require ongoing farrier care and monitoring in case therapeutic glue-on shoes are needed in the future. Shoes are not necessary at this time.
Taz would do well in a home familiar with the long-term management of hoof issues and supportive of gentle corrective care. She is a friendly mare who enjoys human interaction and would thrive in a calm, structured environment.
