Say hello to Scruffy, a soft, sweet-natured adult male chinchilla looking for a calm, patient forever home. Scruffy has the cutest puff of grey fur and an endearing personality to match. He’s a pretty social little guy once he gets to know you, but he can be a bit shy at first-likely due to some rough experiences in his past. With gentle handling and a consistent routine, he begins to open up and show his playful, curious side.

Scruffy would thrive in a quiet home with someone who understands chinchilla behavior and is willing to give him time to feel safe and secure. He may do well with another chinchilla, but slow, supervised introductions are essential.

Ideal Home:
We are seeking a loving home that understands the unique needs of chinchillas:

Housing: A large, multi-level wire cage with solid flooring and plenty of space to climb and jump. Avoid plastic accessories as they can be chewed and cause health issues. A minimum size for a single chinchilla is at least 3′ x 2′ x 3′ tall, and for a pair is 3′ x 2′ x 5’ft tall.

Temperature: Chinchillas are very sensitive to heat and should be kept in a cool, dry room (between 60-70°F / 16-21°C).

Diet: High-quality chinchilla pellets and unlimited access to fresh hay (like timothy). Avoid sugary treats and stick with occasional dried herbs or safe, plain treats.

Water: Always provide fresh, clean water via a bottle.

Bathing: No water baths! Chinchillas keep their coats clean with dust baths 2-3 times per week.

Enrichment: Scruffy will need chew toys, hideouts, and supervised out-of-cage playtime in a chinchilla-proofed area.
