Gerbils like Nibs are small but mighty creatures who thrive in a cozy, enriching environment. Here’s how to help him live his best life:

Housing: A 20-gallon glass tank (or larger) with a secure mesh lid is ideal. Gerbils are master diggers, so provide 4-6 inches (or more) of bedding for tunneling.

Bedding: Use paper-based or aspen bedding. Avoid cedar or pine – the oils can be harmful.

Diet: A high-quality gerbil mix or pellet-based food is perfect. Supplement with small treats like sunflower seeds, oats, or fresh veggies (like carrots). Fresh water should always be available in a bottle with a sipper tube.

Chew Toys: Nibs’ teeth never stop growing, so chewing is essential! Offer untreated wood, cardboard, and gerbil-safe toys to keep him busy and healthy.

Enrichment: Wheels (with a solid surface), tunnels, platforms, and cardboard toys will keep Nibs happy and stimulated.
