Sweet Cosmo came into the BCSPCA’s care extremely underweight and in need of urgent veterinary care. It took Cosmo several weeks to gain weight in a healthy way, but now that he is finally approaching his target weight he is ready to find his forever home! Cosmo hasn’t met a person he doesn’t like (especially if they come bearing food!), and he gets along well with most other dogs, too!

Cosmo is a very affectionate pup who has fantastic leash manners and is fully housetrained. He bonds very strongly with his people, and this smart boy loves to learn new tricks. Due to his background, Cosmo is a very talented and dedicated scavenger, so potential adopters should be prepared to keep him out of the kitchen while preparing or eating meals. We also don’t recommend that Cosmo goes to a home with young children, as he will quickly learn to follow them around waiting for dropped snacks.

Cosmo has been struggling with separation anxiety since coming into our care, so potential adopters should be prepared to start working on gradual departure and self-soothing training with him to help him handle any long stretches of time that he might be left alone. As he initially came from a home with other dogs, we think Cosmo might be most successful in a home with a calm, confident canine companion to keep him company. The staff at the Vancouver SPCA are more than happy to support Cosmo in his forever home, and are able to connect adopters with an AnimalKind trainer to jump right into training.

Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.
