Sparrow is a big love bug who is still learning to keep all four paws on the ground! She would thrive with someone who lives an energetic lifestyle and is looking for a loyal companion to join them on adventures. She knows some basic commands but does need some help with her house training. She also may indulge in a little counter surfing now and then and is very food motivated, which makes her ongoing training easier and more enjoyable.

Sparrow has successfully lived with another dog, cats, livestock, poultry, and visiting grandchildren. However, she is sensitive to fast movements and prefers a calm and predictable environment. Because of this, she would not be well suited to a home with very young children who may not yet understand dog body language or respect her space.

She is also still learning to be comfortable with nail trims and other forms of handling. A guardian willing to use gentle, positive reinforcement techniques and build trust over time will help her gain confidence.

While “gentle giant” may be an overused phrase, it perfectly suits this sweet Great Dane. Though large, she is generally friendly and affectionate with both family and strangers. Like many Danes, Sparrow has a fairly low energy level overall-she loves to play, but she’s just as content to curl up and relax once she’s had her fun.
