Meet Stevie
Meet little Stevie Boy, this sweet young pup has overcome more challenges in his young life than any puppy should have to. Stevie was born in a rural community where the mortality rate for healthy pups is extremely high, so the fact that this sweet, but malformed, boy has survived is truly a miracle. Stevie has not only beaten the odds, but this smart little Shepherd cross has done so with ingenuity and grace.
Stevie will be needing a home that can monitor his weight and feet regularly to ensure he remains pain free. Stevie was born with misshapen toes on all four feet. Although the front do look almost normal, both hind feet are visibly contorted. If you can manage to look past his amazing warm and loving gaze, you will notice that his muzzle is just slightly twisted. This does not affect him in any way, other than making him even more adorable. He will eventually need orthopedic booties to keep his toes in the correct position to prevent pressure sores.
We have also been noticing that he is a bit wary of other dogs so he would do best in a home with no other dogs at this time. Working with a trainer would also be a great way to better understand where this reaction is coming from and ways to work on it together.
Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.
