Meet Ziggy

Add to favourites

Foster observation summary: Once Zig had her own space away from other pets, with some attention (including treats, and time to get comfortable with people sitting quietly in the room), she was an active, engaged and engaging, happy, bright, loving cat within a couple of days. She is still shy when first meeting people and adapts best in calm settings where she can pay attention to everything.

Once she is settled and knows she is safe, Zig loves to snuggle up and be close. If you’ve stopped petting her she will gently put her paw on your arm when she would like more. She likes to nap with people and enjoys hidey holes and sleeping under a blanket.

Zig doesn’t seem to know she’s 11 and has the liveliness of a 6-8 year old. She is highly agile and strong, so her gentle nature may come as a surprise. Ziggy has striking posture and is very well behaved and has never used a claw or tooth for harm, even during the initial time when she was much more timid.

Ziggy is a charming beauty, with very sleek fur. She loves being brushed. She likes to rest with her paws crossed in front of her and often tilts her head to take a look at things of particular interest, be petted, or to savour the flavours of her favorite treat Zig usually touches the person nearest her with a paw while she is sleeping. She is a purr factory.

Zig is a very smart cat. She learns quickly and makes people smile every day with how quickly she solves puzzles and treat mazes, getting up at night to hunt for hidden treat puzzles rather than waking up her people to feed her. Zig looooves to play and shows particular enthusiasm for springs, balls, bird toys and puzzles. She enjoys watching the trees and the great outdoors. She eats enthusiastically and is a licker of hands when she wants to say she loves you. Zig is a big fan of catnip and Tempations treats. It can be tricky to get pictures of Zig because she sometimes moves pretty quickly when she sees a phone (I guess she’s not into paparazzi)… she’d rather be playing or being petted.

She is noticeably more timid and shy around young children and other animals so should go into an older home with no other animals.

Zig is absolutely delightful and is highly loyal once you gain her trust. She brings life and love to a quiet home (and purrs…. so many purrs). She is wonderful.
Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.
