Paige is a beautiful 20y/o Appaloosa mare, and is the perfect choice for anyone looking to provide a loving and peaceful retirement home for a deserving senior horse. Paige came into our care through our Animal Protection services and was underweight and suffering from lack of veterinary care. Over the last few months, she has received the care she needs and has stabilized in her foster home and is gaining the weight she needs. Paige does require a senior mash and regular veterinary check-ups to ensure she remains happy and healthy. It’s recommended at her age that she have her teeth done every 6 months. She is up to date on vaccines, worming and feet.

Paige would thrive in a quiet environment where she can get the care and attention she deserves. Paige is not suited for intense riding or strenuous activities but would love to be a part of your family as a companion horse, as she is gentle respectful of others. She is okay housed by herself as well, as long as she can see other horses.

Paige has a gentle nature and is well-trained on the halter and leads quietly and respectfully. Paige is getting more comfortable with having her feet handled and is making progress with standing calmly for the farrier. Positive reinforcement training is especially beneficial for horses that have been abused or have had negative experiences in the past. This training method helps rebuild trust and creates a safe, positive environment for the horse. For Paige, positive reinforcement has been crucial in helping her overcome her fears and become the gentle, loving horse she is today.
