Meet Mammoth

Add to favourites

Mammoth is a darling 20 year old mini, who is recovering in foster after coming into our care through our animal protection work. She was emaciated, and suffering from a lack of dental care when she came to us. She has spent the last few months recovering and getting the medical care she needed.
Mammoth is a friendly little mare. In foster, she’s has been introduced to positive reinforcement techniques, which encourage desired behavior through rewards and praise. This approach creates a trusting and positive learning environment, making training sessions enjoyable for both horse and owner and Mammoth is loving learning new things and connecting with her foster.

Mammoth is looking for a patient and dedicated guardian who will continue to give her all the care and attention she needs for the rest of her years. Mammoth is currently living with her companion, Wooly, Although it would be nice for Wooly and Mammoth to find a home together, we are open to adopting them out separately as long as there are other equine companions for them to bond with.

Miniature horses, like Wooly and Mammoth, have unique health considerations due to their size. Miniature horses require a specialized diet and are not suited to grazing on rich pasture as it can lead to laminitis and other related health issues. Instead, they require controlled access to pasture or alternative feeding methods. Due to their small stature, even a slight weight gain can have a significant impact on their health, so monitoring their weight and exercise is crucial. Like any other horse, they still need regular hoof and dental care to ensure they are healthy and happy.

Mammoth is up to date on core vaccines, hoof care, and deworming. She will require dental floats every 6-12 months.

Location: Near Kamloops (in Foster)
Adoption fee: $150
