Meet Fish

Add to favourites

Fish is finally feeling better after his ordeal and is ready to start his new life! You can read about Fish’s story here.

Update: Emaciated Labrador retriever lucky to be found alive in remote area

Fish loves everybody he meets, once he gets over his initial enthusiasm he wants to sit at your feet and soak every bit of affection. He has become such a loving dog. Now that he’s gained some weight he is really enjoying his 3km walks, especially if he can stop for cuddles along the way. While he is rather indifferent towards other dogs, he could probably live successfully with a buddy. We don’t know if he has ever been around cats, and would prefer that he goes to a no cat household.

Because of his past, Fish’s new family will need to go back to puppy-like training to teach him how to live indoors and keep all those tasty food temptations (that he’s so good at finding) safely locked up. Thankfully, his great motivation for food and his eagerness to please will make training him rewarding for him AND his family. Since coming to the shelter, Fish has learned a lot about living indoors and is really enjoying quiet cuddles on the sofa. He is so much more comfortable and relaxed when he feels safe.

Fish has quite serious separation anxiety. It seems that his time fending for himself has made him very anxious when his family is not around. He needs someone who is home a lot, who is willing to slowly work on building his confidence. Fish does love car rides so if you’re out on the road and would like some company, Fish would love to ride shotgun!

Fish has lots of wonderful qualities but he also has some challenges. We are looking for a special home that can provide plenty of love, patience and understanding for this very deserving dog.

If you think you could be the right fit for Fish, please be in fill out the application below. We would be happy to talk more about Fish and answer any questions.
