Meet Simba
Simba needs a break. He needs one of those amazing people with the huge hearts and a forgiveness for all things not quite right, to come and fall in love with his grumpy quirky little not quite right personality. A promise to love him no matter what life may throw at him is what he needs, an understanding that he has been through a lot, and people haven’t always been kind to him, so trust must be learned and that may take some time.
This heartbreaker has been with us since before Christmas. If he wasn’t unappealing enough because of his FIV positive status, his personality makes him even less appealing for the 99% of people looking for a kitty companion. Simba is stressed easily and when he’s stressed he is unpredictable with receiving affection. You can tell he desperately wants to trust someone, he has adorable little chirps for you and he enjoys ear scratches and chin scratches, but then in the next moment he will get anxious and strike out.
Simba may not behave this way once he finds his special person who he can love and trust, but until then this is the Simba we know and love. The only real love in Simbas heart at the moment is his ugly orange bed. He loves that tattered thing, it’s his security blanket if you like and we wouldn’t think of taking it away from him. Simbas new home must also be able to accommodate one very ugly orange tattered bed!
Simba tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), a disease in cats commonly transmitted through bites, similar to human HIV. There is no cure for FIV, but many cats with FIV achieve normal lifespans and do not require any daily medications. Because FIV can be transmitted between cats, FIV positive cats must be kept indoors, and if they are to share a home with another cat it should be an FIV positive kitty.
