Meet Hal

Add to favourites

Hal was a big handsome tomcat brought in to the SPCA after living on the streets for awhile and he was suffering from the battle wounds to prove it. Hal was not used to people and was scared and very reluctant to be touched at first but he’s come a long way. Now that he’s been neutered and has had a dental to remove his painful broken teeth he is much happier and is starting to come out of his shell.

Hal is a guy who know what he wants, which usually involves food and head scratches. Its the fastest way to this guys’ heart! He can be picky about who he likes and particular about how he’s pet until he gets to know and trust you. For those he loves he is a big ball of love and cuddles. For those he doesn’t trust he may swat or scratch because he feels scared or overwhelmed. Hal can be quite loving when he’s comfortable but he would do best in a home with someone who is experienced with cats and knows how to handle a big, temperamental boy like Hal. He needs a quieter home without children and other cats. We’re not sure how he would do with dogs so testing would be needed.
Due to fighting with other cats in the past while outdoors, Hal now has FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) which means he has a compromised immune system and needs to be indoor only for the rest of his life. Cats with FIV can still potentially have a long and healthy life but adopters should keep up with regular vet check ups to monitor his health.
Will you be the one to show Hal the joys of being in a loving home?

An adoption counseling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.
