Meet our gentle giant, Diesel!

Diesel is an energetic and happy dog who has stolen the hearts of all the staff and volunteers at the shelter. He loves a good belly scratch, a game of tug of war or fetch, and a snuggly snooze in the afternoons.

This big guy is struggling with his dog reactivity and is looking for patient and dedicated adopters to work on his hyperexcitable reactions when seeing dogs. Due to his size and strength, his reactivity can be overwhelming for the walker. A waist-leash and harness has helped with controlling his jumps, and he is still practicing his redirections skills. Thankfully, he is very treat motivated and very smart, and would excel with consistent positive reinforcement training.

Diesel knows how to sit, shake a paw, lay down, and wait like a good boy. By starting each walk with these training practices, Diesel can work on his reactivity by viewing every walk as a training session.

This gentle giant has lots of love to give and is ready to show his new paw-rents just how lucky they are to have a big snuggle bug in the family!

Dog Adoption Application – Victoria

1. Visit the BC SPCA Victoria Center to meet this pet, learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person; or

2. Submit an online application and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit. Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions, we will only be contacting potential adopters to further review their interest.

3. The Victoria Center is open for in-person viewings Tuesday – Sunday, 12:00 – 4:00 pm

Animals cannot be held for potential adopters for more than 24 hours without a legitimate reason.
