Meet Bert
Oh, hi there! My name is Bert. I’m also lovingly referred to as Berty, Bert Bert Bert, Baby Bert, Bertrone, Bertrand, Wee B… to be honest, it’s endless. Why? Because I am loved by a vast community of humans who have watched me grow into the amazing guy I am today.
Yuuuuup, I’m an immensely loved guy. They loved me through several medical hurdles… like when we found out that I had an abnormality in my central nervous system (brain/spinal cord). Nbd though, this is a congenital abnormal development of my cerebellum. The cerebellum is the part of the brain that regulates balance, head movements and other movements associated with
coordination. Pfffft, you can hardly tell these days! I mean, I don’t lift my hind paws up all the way, I shuffle a tad, and I ain’t the most graceful guy around… but my circle of humans loves me, for me! Hooray!
They even loved me when I had GI upsets throughout A LOT of nights… but my friends changed up my food, so I’m feeling top-notch these days! I’m a foodie, so this makes me pretty darn happy.
I learn at a slower pace, my human circle teaches me things by positive reinforcement only. I like this because I’m a sensitive guy and learning should always be positive, fun, and rewarding for everyone involved. I’m working on loose leash walking right now and I’m getting there!
I’m a morning guy! Seriously, I love mornings… and breakfast. I ain’t going out for a pee until you give me breaky buuuuut after breaky I am ready for ALL THE THINGS. Walks, runs, playtime with other canine friends, the works!
When I look at my match of matches, I know what I’m looking for, are you ready? Here we go…
• A canine sibling to show me all the ropes (I love my canine foster sister & brothers, and even my foster feline sibs too!)
• Someone who is home with me, my circle has always been primarily women, but I have a pretty cool foster Dad who I enjoy too. I’ve always had constant human companionship and I quite like that or another dog around. Nobody likes to be lonely, am I right?
• I have an excellent nose and I think I could have some serious fun excelling at scent games.
• A human who knows I need yearly vet exams because a happy Bert is a healthy Bert. Obviously!
• A human who loves to be outside as much as I do – I LOVE adventures! Beaches, lakes, hikes, paddle boarding, and car rides (especially if you grab me a pup cup)!
• A treat dispenser, I mean, I really love snacks. In fact, I’m highly motivated by all the snacks… my foster fam jam teaches me all sorts of things with their snacky bribes!
So, what do ya think? Am I your guy? Hit the link below to get the ball rollin’.
