Meet Moose

Add to favourites

Meet Moose and Sue! These sweet but timid guys came to us together as one unique duo with exceptionally large personalities and are searching for a home away from the business of city life. They are a mix of livestock guardian breeds and would love to be able to have a large yard or farm to roam and protect.

The boys are both fearful of new people and new environments but since coming into care we have seen a huge improvement in how they approach new situations. The staff here have been working with an Animal Kind trainer on how to best help them thrive! We are currently working on getting them both comfortable wearing a leash and collar as they have not experienced walking on a leash in their pervious life. They are wary of human touch which is also something they did not have a lot of experience with in their pervious life. Future adopters will need to continue working with an Animal Kind trainer to ensure Sue and Moose continue to progress with confidence.

With that being said… Moose is a big loveable guy who stomps around the play yard with a huge smile on his face, genuinely wanting to play with humans but he just isn’t quite sure how to yet. He will take toys & treats from our hands but he would definitely prefer you watch him toss his things in the air from a safe-for-him distance. We cannot yet give him scritches & scratches without his consent, but we are continuously working on it and are confident that in due time, he will learn to appreciate the love and affection that humans can provide him.

This big goofy guy is very sure what he wants & he isn’t afraid to let you know that he would prefer to drink water out of a running hose than his own water dish. He also enjoys watching the birds flying high in the sky on a clear, sunny day & barking at shadows of leaves through the skylights from inside the kennels. Since EVERYTHING is new with these guys, you can be sure that they are constantly wondering what the world around them has to offer.

These two are curious, gentle and most of all they LOVE each other. We are currently hoping for a home where they can be together. Moose is the more confident of the pair and is able to offer Sue the comfort to handle the big scary world out there!

Even though they have had a rough start to life and will undoubtably be a challenge, we have seen how much love they have to give and are amazed at how willing they are to give us strangers a chance at getting to love them. If you feel you may have the time, patience and space to give these two big pups a home, please submit your online application or reach out to the Abbotsford SPCA to chat.
