Meet Briggs

Add to favourites

Handsome Briggs is here looking for his fur-ever home!

Briggs came from a hoarding environment with many other cats that were found abandoned in a home, and when he arrived he was underweight, sick with an upper respiratory illness and parasites, and quite shy. He has received vet care and now that he’s feeling better he has become a total snuggle-bug! He can be a bit shy in a new environment at first but once he gets some love he will roll right over and turn into a purring and biscuit-making machine. He’ll sometimes grab your hand with his paws if you try to leave while he still wants more pets as he loves being pet. He is just desperate for love and attention! Briggs doesn’t mind being picked up and held for a little while, and will make a great cuddle buddy. He is such a loving, purr machine who will be a wonderful companion and great addition to a home. He’s had such a rough start to life and is now ready to be absolutely spoiled.

Briggs tested positive for calicivirus and mycoplasma which are upper respiratory illnesses, as well as roundworms and ear mites. He was treated for the parasites and bacterial infection, but adopters should be aware that there is a small possibility calicivirus can remain in a cats system for life and may flare up slightly in times of stress causing cold like symptoms. Or Briggs may stay symptom-free for the rest of his life. We recommend he be an indoor only cat and to be the only cat in the home or live with a cat(s) who has already been exposed to the virus (perhaps adopting a friend from the same home). We can go over Briggs’s medical history in more detail with potential adopters during our adoption counseling session.

An adoption counseling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.

Do you think you could be Briggs’s person? Here are some ways to find out:

1. Visit our centre to meet this pet, learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person; or
2. Submit an online application and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions, we will only be contacting potential adopters to further review their interest. We are not able to contact all applicants.
