Meet Bella

Add to favourites

Are you looking for an extra heavy and adorable weighted blanket in dog form? Meet Sweet Bella:

This mighty girl has the most sensitive heart. She came into our care very fearful and nervous, barely looking at anyone trying to spend time with her. After a few days in shelter, she started to come around and show her true colours.

We learned that Bella loves hugs and kisses from people she knows, soft chew milk-bones, and being outside in the fresh air, even if it’s just to lay in the grass. As she has come out of her shell, she has shown so much affection and attention to our volunteers and animal staff, whom she sees regularly. We are all so happy to see how trusting she’s become since walking through the front doors. Bella seems to prefer women and warms up to them faster than men.

Bella is new to the walking game and doesn’t exactly understand the concept of a leash. However, she doesn’t pull much and shows minimal reactivity while out on a neighbourhood stroll, and she loves seeing new places on long walks. She doesn’t seem to pay too much attention to other dogs while out on walks and really tends to keep all her attention on her owner (the source of good treats and pets!).

Bella is protective of her food and doesn’t like to share food and treats with other dogs nearby. For this reason, we think Bella would do best in a home where she is the only animal.

Bella is also quite excitable when other dogs get close and will need a strong owner that is able to help her meet them in a calm manner. Once she has met them, if no food is around, she will walk happily on a leash with another dog close by.

As Bella is waiting for a spay appointment, we are looking for someone who is ready to Foster to Adopt this gentle giant and give her all the love she deserves.

If you think you have the right forever home for Bella, please fill out one of our online applications.
