Meet Timber

Add to favourites

Meet Timber! A rambunctious 1 year old Rotty/Saint Bernard mix. This beautiful boy came into the shelter very underweight and with skin issues and is looking for a family that will take good care of him. Timber is quite content doing anything, but is CRAZY HAPPY about SQUEAKY TOYS. He will entertain himself for hours with them, which can make it hard for one to concentrate!

This boy also loves his belly rubs and spending time outdoors in any capacity (he was an outdoor only dog). We are looking for a home that can provide him with a safe and loving environment to thrive in. Timber is sweet as pie, but can easily get over excited when first interacting with people. We have been working with him to learn good manners so that he can fit into his new life. He is a big baby and wants love very badly he is just unsure on how to ask for it. Timber has not had much socialization as he has spent most of his life outdoors, he can be reactive to new dogs and will need practice with meeting friends and ongoing training to help with his rowdy behavior.

Timber’s hind end confirmation is not the best, which may develop to poor mobility and/or arthritis. He is a bit wobbly, but is not in any pain at the moment. We would like to give him the best shot at finding the perfect home that will understand the kind of medical concerns that he is likely to have in his future. Timber will most likely need hip corrective surgery at some point but in the meantime, joint supplements, Cartrophen injections, NSAIDs, or a joint diet were recommended by his veterinarian. Because of his future medical needs, Timber is not suited for a first time dog owner, but rather someone with lots of dog experience who can keep him mentally and physically stimulated while monitoring and limiting high impact activities.
