Meet Churro

Add to favourites

***We appreciate every application we get, however due to the volume we receive we are unable to contact each individual who sends one in. We will follow up with people we believe will be a good fit for the animal in question. If you do not hear back from us please feel free to send in applications for other animals as well.***

Churro has been on quite the journey this spring. Originally rescued from Campbell with his brother, he had been living in an enclosed indoor space for at least several months. A vet in Port Hardy took them on for several weeks, and then they made their way to the BCSPCA Comox Branch. When they were first rescued Churro and his brother seemed inseparable, however after some time out of the situation they were found in they begun squabbling and did not want to be around each other anymore. Churro also became reactive towards other dogs, and so we are looking for a home where he will be the only animal in the household.
After some time at the Comox Branch, he has now come to live with us here in Cowichan. He’s almost had a full island tour at this point!
Due to his past living situation, Churro does have some habits that he will need help working on, with housetraining being the most important (we’re sure his forever family will think so anyway!). He will need lots of positive reinforcement (luckily he is extremely food motivated which will make that easy!) and management strategies to teach him how to be a well mannered dog. His ideal family will have lots of patience for him, and will keep in mind that he is not doing it deliberately, he just doesn’t know what is expected of him!

If Churro sounds like the right match for you, follow the directions below! To start the adoption process:

1. View Churro’s profile: spca.bc.ca and record the Animal ID #
2. Submit an application: https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-cowichan/
3. Wait to see if you hear back. We usually contact a handful of people for further questions before booking a meet & greet.
