Meet Zeus (and Sandy)
Zeus and his sister Sandy came to the BC SPCA as young kittens sick and very underweight after being rescued from a hoarding situation. It’s been a long road of recovery for the pair after such a tough start to life but they are finally ready to find their fur-ever family. We are looking for a special home that will adopt the loving and playful siblings together and absolutely spoil them. They have so much love to share!
When they came to the shelter, Zeus and Sandy were suffering from severely damaged, painful, and inflamed eyes due to an untreated upper respiratory virus that caused ulcers. Unfortunately Zeus’ left eye was too damaged to save and had to be removed but he does still have his right eye which possibly has a little bit of sight left in it. Zeus is pretty much completely blind though and his new home will have to be prepared for that and make sure his environment is safe. He does adapt really quickly and gets around easily once he learns the lay of the land. This sweet, young guy is very playful and even though he can’t see will still zoom around after his toys, play with his sister, and explore. Zeus has lots of energy and is very playful with his toys. When he isn’t playing then he’ll happily get all the pets he can get and is a big purr machine. Such loving young cats will make great additions to a home. Because of Zeus and Sandy’s loss of vision they must be kept as strictly indoor only cats since it would not be safe for them outside. An apartment is preferred. They potentially should be the only cats in the home as they may carry the upper respiratory virus with them for life even if they don’t show symptoms. However there is little risk for cats who are kept up to date on their vaccines or have already been exposed to the virus. A home that isn’t too crazy and loud may be best as with Zeus being mostly blind a loud home could be a bit overwhelming for him. Introductions to new animals would need to be slow as the duo has not met any before. They would probably do fine with cat savvy kids as well.
Zeus and Sandy have a huge amount of love to share with their new family and hope to find their happily ever after. Could you be the one to end their wait?Due to their blindness we are looking for a one level apartment where there is less risk of them getting out as they like to dart out of doors!
