Meet Katya

Add to favourites

This long-legged loyal and loveable gal is the “boop” queen of the shelter. She has quite the strength in her nose, and uses it not only to sniff out tasty treats, but also to nudge you for attention! When she is extra happy to see you, she puts on a show of body wiggles, pretending she’s on a trampoline, and of course- snoot boops. Once all the sillies are shaken, Katya is ready for a good snooze on the couch, paired with some belly rubs from her favorite people.

Katya likes to investigate prior to making a full approach to new people. She reads body language, and prefers if you stop and take the time to listen to hers as well. Once acquainted, Katya bonds quickly and her happy-go-lucky attitude shines bright. Young and intelligent, but still has lots to learn. Katya has a strong start to her training, and understands basic obedience. Where she needs some extra attention is with socialization to new surroundings and people.

Looking for a relaxed home environment, and a gentle handler to provide her with continued training and a consistent routine, Katya is ready to share her silly and fun-loving self with a human or two!

As a Kuvasz, Katya was bred to be a livestock guardian dog. Although she hasn’t had any prior experience with livestock in particular, Katya would still greatly benefit from having a job in a similar manner, and a property to call her own. She gets along with other dogs, and loves to play. If housed with another dog, she would prefer it to be a male. Katya is not a fit for a home with cats, or small children.

These legs are meant to move, whether it be adventuring or making her rounds of the property. If you have the space, love, and experience for a large gal like Katya, hit the link below to submit an application and connect with staff today!
