Say hello to BLAZE, A 10 month old Pit Bull/Husky mix who craves affection and LOVES to love on his people. This bouncy little man was hit by a car and suffered an injury to his spine which we are happy to report was not severe, but has left him with some hind end mobility issues. His hind end is a bit unstable and he stumbles around a little when he walks, but he does not seem to be in any pain, and his issues definitely do not stop him from moving around! His hind end will always be unstable, but we are hopeful that his new adopters would be willing to do some conditioning and rehabilitation with him. Our Vet has assured us that his quality of life is very good, and his future looks excellent with some rehab and training. Rehabilitation, such as laser therapy and underwater treadmill have been recommended for him to help him along on his healing journey so he can have the most fun possible.
Blaze is the loveliest boy with the sweetest demeanor, and he brings love and joy to everyone he meets. He is a pure squishy love puppy and is definitely a staff favourite. We are looking for a home that can keep him stimulated mentally with training, tricks, and brain games as his main activity because due to his mobility issue he’s not one for long walks or a lot of physical activity. He doesn’t have any experience with children and is quite bouncy and exuberant so we feel he would do better in an adult oriented home, however Blaze would do well with older teenagers. His ideal home would be a single level as stairs are a bit much for him, and non slip floors (area rugs and runners) are also very important so he doesn’t constantly slip/fall.
Blaze has not been tested very much with other dogs, but always gets very excited and happy when he sees them. He did live with dogs in his previous home but due to his injury he hasn’t met any dogs while here with us. He would most likely do well with a calm dog that can appropriately tell him when play time is over, and should be monitored during play to ensure he doesn’t get too bouncy. He has not been leash trained and is working on all his basic manners and house training through positive reinforcement. This boy is eager to please and needs a loving, patient and understanding home who will help him be the good boy we all know him to be.
Please note he is NOT neutered yet, so he will need to go into a local foster to adopt home until his appointment.
