Oakley is a VERY high energy young guy who’s seeking his perfect home.
Oakley is a very active, extremely intelligent mix breed.
He was surrendered into our care due to excessive vocalization, prey drive towards smaller animals, and escape tendencies. We have witnessed here in care that this boy has figured out most door knobs, and can jump very high so we are inclined to believe he could jump a fence with ease.
Oakley is not the kind of dog who does well alone or unattended. We’ve seen high levels of anxiety from him when he’s alone and he will do everything in his power to reunite himself with you. He cannot be left outdoors alone, even in a fenced yard for a short while as he has amazing athletic abilities and a lot of ambition. We believe that supervised play and long walks would be just the ticket for this sweetheart.
Oakley is a HUGE sweetie and an absolute love bug. All he wants is to spend his day with his loved one(s), cuddling and playing. He adores fetch, and will play until he’s about ready to drop into a nap. He’s also pretty good on leash, he does walk noticeably better on a harness as opposed to just his collar. He does pull quite a bit with just his collar on, but it’s only because there’s so many smells to tend to each walk and he would love to sniff them all! He’s a very busy boy and loves to constantly be moving and exploring.
Oakley is absolutely food motivated, and knows his basic commands such as “sit” and “down”. With his food drive and his intelligence, we don’t doubt that he could be taught to do so many cool tricks!
Oakley has a high prey drive, and should not live in a home with any smaller livestock, cats, or small animals. We’ve not tested him with other dogs, as his energy level is just so high that our current dogs in care don’t seem to match his energy.
This sweet boy is really hoping for a home that can dedicate a lot of time and energy into keeping him active, stimulated, and entertained; as well as provide endless love and cuddles.
He’s such a handsome and affectionate boy, we’ve no doubt we can help him find his perfect match!
