Meet our lovely Twinkle!!
Twinkle is looking for a devoted home where she can be the one-and-only, the center of attention, and the apple of your eye. She will act out in order to get your full attention by jumping up onto tables, counters, and anywhere she can reach. We have been working on calm interactions and play time. Twinkle has been making amazing progress with not being reactive to loud trucks and other dogs and is very easy to distract and keep walking.
Twinkle needs a home that will allow her to decompress for a couple weeks. She needs time to relax and adjust to her new home and routine. This includes but isn’t limited to: shorter walks, no new training techniques, no introductions to new people or dogs etc.
A home with a flexible schedule (works from home, semi retired etc)
Positive reinforcement training
A patient guardian who is committed
An experienced guardian who has had dogs before
Water play (and we think she probably would like swimming)
Long walks and exploring new trails
Being left alone
Strangers and men wearing hats
Selective with other dogs. Will need slow and supervised introductions
Having someone get her overly excited (she likes a calm and relaxed environment)
Off-leash dog parks and off-leash walking
WHAT TWINKLE HAS:
A positive attitude
Adventurous! She loves to explore!
Twinkle struggles with certain things that tie in with her anxiety. When she sees the leash she can get herself so over-excited and anxious she will start trying to chew on the leash as you are clipping her up. She also struggles in a vehicle when you arrive at your destination and thinks she might not get to come with you, she will charge through you to get to the door with you,but she is learning to wait in the back until her door is opened. These sort of things will need continued work with calming exercises and require a guardian that will have the patience to work through this with her.
Her tendency to jump on things like counters would do well being redirected into something like agility training.
A behavior consult will be required prior to an appointment to meet Twinkle being set up with any applicant.
