Spark is a handsome Australian Shepherd mix with all the intelligence, athleticism, and drive that make the breed so beloved. He loves walks, running, exploring, playing in the yard, learning new things, and spending time with his favorite people. He already understands basic commands and will thrive with an adopter who is excited to continue his training and help him reach his full potential.

More than anything, Spark needs an outlet for both his body and his brain. A quick walk around the block won’t be enough for this busy young guy. Puzzle toys, training sessions, scent games, hiking, jogging, agility, fetch, enrichment activities, and learning new skills will all help Spark become the very best version of himself. Like many highly intelligent working breeds, Spark does best when he has structure, routine, and clear expectations. When excitement levels rise, he can become overstimulated and is still learning how to settle himself and make good choices in those moments. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and guidance, Spark has all the potential to mature into an exceptional companion.

When it comes to canine friends, Spark can be selective. He has shown a preference for female dogs and may do well with a compatible female companion after proper introductions. Spark can also be barrier reactive, particularly toward male dogs, meaning he may become vocal or frustrated when greeting dogs through fences, gates, or kennel barriers. His future family should be prepared to advocate for him and continue building his confidence and social skills through positive experiences.

Spark can experience separation anxiety when left alone for extended periods and would do best in a home where he receives plenty of companionship, activity, and engagement throughout the day.
