Meet Acorn! 🐹🌰

Acorn is an amazing, spunky little dude with a personality that far outweighs his tiny size. This confident middle-aged hamster is always on the move, happily exploring his surroundings and sniffing out his next favourite snack. Acorn is hand-tamed, enjoys gentle handling, and is comfortable spending time with his people.

Like all hamsters, Acorn deserves a home that allows him to express his natural behaviours – and we’re always happy to help new adopters learn what that looks like! Hamsters are often misunderstood, but with the right setup they make fascinating, rewarding companions.

Acorn is looking for a home where he can dig, burrow, forage, and explore to his heart’s content. His enclosure should provide at least 450 square inches of uninterrupted floor space, although Acorn would be thrilled with a hamster mansion of 800 square inches or more. Since he’s shown us that he likes to climb but isn’t always the most graceful on the way back down, a tank or tote-style enclosure would be ideal. A dedicated tunnel engineer, Acorn would also appreciate at least 6 inches of paper-based bedding or aspen shavings so he can create the elaborate burrow systems every hamster dreams of. He loves zooming along on his exercise wheel and is even partially litter trained-provide a clean pumice stone litter tray, and he’ll often choose that spot for his bathroom breaks.

As his teeth never stop growing, Acorn will need plenty of safe chew toys to keep them healthy and trimmed. He also enjoys the occasional treat of fresh fruits and vegetables alongside a balanced hamster diet.

Being a hamster, Acorn is naturally nocturnal, so his busiest hours tend to be later in the evening. That said, he’s not completely opposed to the occasional interruption for snacks, cuddles, or a little one-on-one time with his favourite humans.
