Meet Oreo! This adorable lop eared rabbit came to the SPCA when his previous guardian was sadly no longer able to keep and care for him. He’s a pretty outgoing and friendly guy who seems to adjust to new environments quickly and previously lived with kids and other animals, though we’re not sure how much he interacted with the animals so slow, proper introductions are important with any animals in his new home. It’s also important that any children are experienced and respectful handling a rabbit. Oreo will make a great addition to any rabbit loving home as he is just the cutest and sweetest guy!

One important thing to know about Oreo is he’s an amputee. Years ago he had to have one of his hind legs removed due to an injury, possibly after being hit by a car. This does seem to stop him from jumping up onto things like normal but he still enjoys having a nice large enclosure to hop around in and stretch his remaining legs. When Oreo is particularly happy, maybe after he’s had a nice treat of some fresh, green veggies, he will flop down on his side and stretch right out, completely relaxed.
Having a rabbit as a pet involves providing a very specific diet, lots of enrichment, and a proper habitat. Potential adopters must show they are familiar with the specialized care involved.
