Meet Kuma!

This sweet senior Akita is seeking a forever home that can offer him loads of bum rubs, the very best treats, and lots of love! Don’t let his age fool you, Kuma here is still packed full of energy and puppylike personality, and is already ready to go for a stroll and hop in the car for a ride!

As expected with his age, Kuma does have arthritis in his hips, and is currently on a pain control trial to find what makes him most comfortable. He will need to stay on regular pain control and maintenance for the rest of his golden days to help him along his way into retirement, and will need an adopter willing to take this on. His activity level still craves some adventure however, so someone who is mindful of doing low impact activity with him is best, so he can still enjoy his outings.

Kuma loves to play and enjoys tossing his toys in the air like he’s putting on a circus act, making them flip and roll in the air before proudly collecting them. He keeps himself busy during the day with frozen kongs and puzzles, but does get bored at times and will shred up some toys when left alone. Kuma does also love digging holes in the yard, and would love to help you “garden” by being your official hole digger, paid with the very best cookies!

Kuma seems to enjoy other dogs, and has had good interactions with other canines while in our care. He’s previously lived with other dogs, and may do well sharing his space again with the right match! We haven’t had the chance to do our own introductions yet, so slow and steady will be important for him.
