Meet Wilma!

Wilma is a 6-year-old Doberman Pinscher with a truly special story. A unique beauty and a bit of a world traveller, she originally came to us from overseas and has already seen more of the world than most dogs ever will. Despite an unstable start to life, Wilma has proven to be a gentle, sweet soul who is quietly learning that the world can be a safe and kind place.

She is still gaining confidence, but she’s making wonderful progress every day-especially with her leash training! Wilma enjoys being outside, taking in her surroundings at her own pace, and she’s highly motivated by treats (the quickest way to her heart). After a stroll or some gentle enrichment, she’s happiest settling down to relax and enjoy a good nap.

Wilma originally arrived with three other dogs, and despite their past, they found comfort and security in one another, sharing a clear bond. This speaks to Wilma’s gentle nature and her ability to connect deeply once she feels safe.

Wilma would thrive in a quiet, predictable home where she can decompress, feel secure, and continue building confidence at her own pace. With patience, kindness, and consistency, Wilma will make a loyal and loving companion for someone ready to give her the peaceful life she deserves.

Do you think you could be Wilma’s person? Here is how to find out:

1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or
2.)Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.

*Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters!
