Meet Charles
Attention Outdoor Enthusiasts!! Are you looking for your new best friend? Your companion for all of your camping trips? Your jogging, hiking, biking and adventure buddy? Well, Look no further! Charles may be the canine companion of your dreams!
Charles is a coonhound and he is incredibly smart! Known for their high energy level, innate ability for tracking and scent work, this boy needs a LOT of exercise! Charles is looking for an active family who can meet his energy needs. He would love to accompany you on many road trips, exploring the big world around him with his (very) active nose! Because his nose rules his world, Charles will need a lot of work off leash working on his recall. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he can safely explore, play and chase many toys around! True to his hound dog nature, Charles enjoys singing the songs of his people. He can be very vocal and would not be suited to apartment or condo living. Coonhounds can be stubborn when training, so adopters with breed experience are preferred at this time. Coonhounds are not recommended for first time adopters, as they require additional training, patience and exercise.
He is friendly with other dogs, but will need slow and controlled introductions with calm, dog-neutral dogs as his first impressions can be a little overwhelming. He has been known to sing incessantly when he meets new friends, so slow, calm meetups would be best while he is working on controlling his excitement.
Charles LOVES toys and people and would be a great addition to a family with our without children. He would be best suited for older children as his excitable nature may be a bit overwhelming for young ones.
If you are interested in adding a new sidekick to your home, stop by the centre between 12pm-3pm Tuesday-Sunday or send in an application online today!
