Meet Sugar,

Sugar is a 2-year-old Husky who’s come a long way since arriving from a large rescue. She was extremely nervous and overwhelmed at first, but with time and consistent support, she formed strong bonds with the shelter staff and started to show her personality. Despite the progress, the shelter environment was still too stressful for her, so she was moved to a foster home – where she’s been thriving.

Now in foster care, Sugar is showing more confidence each day. She loves playing with the resident Golden Retriever and spends a lot of time relaxing by the window, quietly watching the world outside. She’s very quiet for a Husky – she doesn’t bark and is calm in the home.

Sugar is still cautious around new people and situations, so she’ll need a patient adopter who can give her time and space to adjust. A calm home, ideally with another well-adjusted dog, would help her continue to build confidence.

Dog Pre-Adoption Questionnaire

The Victoria Center is open for in-person adoption viewings Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm to 4pm, staff and animal well-being permitting!

Some animals may not be viewable due to limited shelter space, medical and behavioral reasons, or other contributing factors. Kitten and puppy meet and greets are by application only.

Due to the high number of applications, we will ONLY be following-up with the chosen adopter. If you do not hear back within a week, it’s likely the animal has already found a forever home. Phone inquires and emails regarding the status of your application cannot always be prioritized.
